Interventions

Behavioral : The experimental group underwent palliative ambulation therapy once a day for 30 minutes and received robot-assisted ambulation therapy once a day for 40 minutes for a total of 75 minute

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) those who were first diagnosed with stroke; 2) patients who had passed the acute stage of stroke, had the onset of stroke less than six months ago, and required intensive rehabilitation; 3) patients with level 1 to 3 in the functional ambulation category (FAC) for evaluation of ambulation; and 4) patients with a score of 20 or higher on the Korean Version of Mini-Mental State Examination (K-MMSE) on medical records.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) those with FAC level 0 (unable to walk at all or require assistance from two therapists) and level 4 to 5 (capable of independent ambulation); 2) those with orthopedic problems that may interfere with walking; 3) those with underlying neurological disorders such as dementia; and 4) those who were unable to walk due to non-healing ulcers in the lower extremities.
