Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients who are hospitalized for respiratory failure (PaO2/FiO2 ratio <300) in intensive care units who need HFNC treatment due to hypoxic or hypercapnic respiratory failure 1) hypoxic respiratory failure: mild/modulate respiratory failure (100mmHg < PaO2/FiO2 =300mmHg) 2) Hypercapnic respiratory failure: Patients with 45-70mmHg of PaCO2 and pH 7.3 or higher in arterial blood gas analysis (ABGA)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1)Patients who have difficulty applying nasal cannula due to previous facial surgery, trauma, deformity, airway obstruction, etc. 2) Patients whose level of consciousness is unclear or respiratory failure are expected to require mechanical ventilation.
