Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The inclusion criteria were individuals without delirium at initial assessment, with expected ICU LOS of at least 48 hours, without communication difficulties, and with an informed consent of study participation signed by the patient him/herself or the guardian.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The exclusion criteria included a score of -4 or less in the Richmond Agitation and Sedation Scale (RASS), dementia, any psychiatric or neurological diagnosis, any primary brain lesions of the vascular, traumatic, malignant or infectious type, a period of continuous intravenous sedation, and absence of a guardian.
