Interventions

Procedure/Surgery : Test group 1: The extraction sockets were compactly filled with mixture of deproteinized bovine bone mineral with 10&#37
collagen (DBBM-C, Geistlich Bio-Oss® Collagen 250 mg, Geistlich Pharma AG, Wolhusen, Switzerland) and EMD (Straumann® Emdogain 0.3 ml, Straumann, Basel, Switzerland
Enamel Matrix Derivative 30 mg/ml). Subsequently, extraction sockets were covered with two layers of a resorbable collagen membrane (RCM, Geistlich Bio-Gide® 13 x 25 mm, Geistlich Pharma AG, Wolhusen,
chlorhexidine, bid for 2 weeks]). The sutures were removed 2 weeks after ARP.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. age =19 years 2. residual extraction sockets at least 50% of the buccal bone plate 3. presence of adjacent tooth at the extraction site 4. healthy or well-controlled systemic conditions 5. adequate oral hygiene and stable periodontal status (bleeding on probing <20% and plaque index <20%)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. pregnant or breastfeeding women 2. current smokers (>10 cigarettes/day) 3. bone metabolic disease 4. uncontrolled or untreated periodontal disease 5. lack of comprehensive instructions or inability to provide informed consent.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
bone dimensional changes of the extraction socket measured at a horizontal width change of 1, 3, and 5 mm apically below the alveolar ridge crest and vertical height change of the buccal, mid, and palatal alveolar ridge crests

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Postoperative discomfort (severity/duration of pain and swelling) and early soft tissue wound healing outcomes (spontaneous bleeding, persistent swelling, and ulceration)
