Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients older than 18 years of age, diagnosed with symptomatic grade III or IV internal hemorrhoids during the study period were evaluated for inclusion in the trial.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria included any mental or neurologic disease preventing collaboration in the study or patients who could neither read nor write; recurrent hemorrhoids after previous surgical treatments; pre-existing fecal incontinence; anal sphincter lesions; previous anorectal surgery; other concomitant anorectal disease (eg, anal fistula, anal fissure, IBD); American Society of Anesthesiologists(ASA) physical status classification IV and V patients; history of allergy to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), acetaminophen, or narcotics; coagulation disorders; pregnancy and lactation; and patient rejection of written consent.
