Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Age 19-75 years 2. Patients with isolated diagnosis of symptomatic one/two-level lumbar central stenosis or disc herniations. 3. Planned for elective one/two-level uni/bi-lateral open lumbar laminectomy with or without discectomy 4. No known allergies to constituents of medication to be instituted as part of study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Previous lumbar surgeries 2. On medications for other medical issues 3. Multi-level symptomatic spinal conditions 4. Peripheral neuropathy 5. h/o psychiatric disorders and neuromuscular disorders 6. Workmen compensation claim candidates 7. Patients with systemic inflammatory disorders e,g rheumatoid arthritis 8. Patients on steroids/immunosuppressant medications
