Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients who are scheduled to undergo thoracic epidural block several times using the paramedian approach at the Pain Clinic will be asked to give a full explanation of the clinical trial beforehand.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: potential for elevated intracranial pressure weight exceeds BMI 30 history of spinal surgery Congenital spinal deformity bleeding tendency infection on the thoracic-lumbar spine hypersensitive to amide-based anesthetics
