Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Among patients who underwent colonoscopy or sigmoidscopy for acute exacerbation of ulcerative colitis, patients who underwent histologic examination for the presence of cytomegalovirus colitis

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients diagnosed with an unclassified-IBD 2. Less than 1 year follow-up 3. Patients who had already undergone colonic resection prior to biopsy 4. Patients who were not treated for acute exacerbation
