Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Indications to perform the prostate biopsy were a biochemical increase in serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level (>3.5 ng/mL) and/or suspicious findings from a digital rectal examination. From 20 to 84 years old.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Previous patients with other urological cancer diagnosed 2. Patients at risk of bleeding (less than PLT 10K, PT, BT, aptt finding less than 50% of normal) 3. Patients with allergy history of lidocaine 4. Patients at risk of other acute urinary tract infections 5. Patients with rectal disease at risk for performing other transrectal prostate biopsies 6. Patients who do not agree with this study
