Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: First episode: They have to have symptoms requiring antipsychotic treatment with illness duration of no longer than 3 years and a lifetime history of previous antipsychotic exposure of = 2 consecutive weeks. Recent and Chronic: Within five years after the onset patients with recent onset and over 5 years

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients will be excluded for any of the following reasons: i) meeting DSM-IV criteria for another axis I diagnosis, including substance abuse or dependence; ii) having a serious or unstable medical illness in which pharmacotherapy would prove a significant clinical risk; and iii) pregnant or lactating women.
