Medical Device : A study that compares treatment efficacy of acupuncture VS sham acupuncture in the treatment of functional constipation. Treatment regimen: 3 times/week for 4 weeks

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Males and females aged 19 to 65 years old 2. Patients satisfying Rome III criteria for functional constipation 3. Agreed with written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. History of constipation due to any other cause (inflammatory bowel disease or other structural bowel disease, etc.) 2. History of bowel surgery or cholecystectomy 3. hypothyroidism 4. diagnosis of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Rome III) 5. insulin-dependent DM, severe medical disease(heart and lung, liver and kidney, malignancy, immunocompromised patients) 6. Pregnant, expecting pregnant or nursing women 7. taking any medication or probitics for constipation within 2 weeks 8. Received acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping or herbal medicine for constipation within 4 weeks 9. Known hypersensitivity reaction after acupuncture treatment or inability to cooperate with acupuncture procedure 10. Those who are not willing to comply with this study protocol
