Interventions

Drug : Before induction of anaeshtesia, 8 mg dexamethasone or 1.5 mg/ kg lidocaine is administered intravenously and tracheal intubation is performed for total thyroidectomy

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) total thyroidectomy 2) ASA physical class 1 or 2 3) 19-69yrs 4) informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) previous history of head and neck surgery 2) DM,infectious disease 3) history of pharyngitis or chronic cough 4) history of double lumen endotracheal tube 5) difficult intubation, or trial of intubation more than 2 attempts
