Interventions

Drug : At the end of the operation, in a double-blind manner, the anesthesiologist started the patient-controlled analgesia (PCA). The total volume of drugs given to the members of each group was 150

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: written informed consent from adult 276 patients, who were scheduled to undergo cardiac surgery were enrolled

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Reasons for exclusion were: need for emergency surgery; failure to give informed consent; reduced left ventricular function (ejection fraction less than 40%); history of allergy to the PCA drugs; use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors; active seizure or history of seizure; glaucoma; high risk of urinary retention (i.e., urethral or prostate disease); severe renal or hepatic disease; critical pulmonary disease or history of respiratory disease; tachyarrhythmia or surgery for arrhythmia.
