Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria for rectal NET group ? The patients with rectal NET which is confirmed by histological examination of endoscopic biopsy specimen and whose age ranges from 20 to 75 years ? The patients who visit the department of Gastroenterology of Asan Medical Center for the endoscopic resection of rectal NET ? Those whose rectal NET shows no metastases on abdominopelvic CT/MRI and chest radiograph ? The patients have no evidence of synchronous upper gastrointestinal NET at the esophagogastrodudenoscopy within 6 months before enrollment ? Those who agree with the informed consents the study Inclusion criteria for control group ? Age- & sex-matched healthy subjects from those who undergo routine health check-up at the Health Promotion Center of Asan Medical Center ? Those who do not have rectal NET at screening colonoscopy ? Those who do not have gastric NET at screening esophagogastroduodenoscopy ? Those who agree with the informed consents the study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for both rectal NET and control group ? Those who had the past history of extra-rectal NET which had been treated or not. ? Those who have other medical conditions that may increase the plasma CgA level: chronic kidney disease, chronic heart failure, atrophic body gastritis with pernicious anemia
