Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients who have provided written informed consent to participate in this study after receiving a full explanation of the study. 2. Patients aged 20 years or older and younger than 90 years at the time of obtaining informed consent. 3. Patients with a pathological diagnosis of gastric cancer who are scheduled to undergo distal or total gastrectomy at Fujita Health University Hospital.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. History of small or large bowel resection (appendectomy permitted). 2. Receipt of preoperative chemotherapy. 3. Regular use of probiotics or gastrointestinal agents (gut-modulating agents) prior to surgery. 4.Severe constipation likely to preclude stool sample collection. 5.Any other condition that, in the opinion of the principal investigator or sub-investigators, renders the patient unsuitable for participation in the study.
