Conditions

The subjects were 20 patients aged over 16years with American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I-II undergoing orthopedic surgery of the lower limbs (knee joint) using a tourniquet application.

Inclusion criteria:

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: poorly controlled hypertension, abnormal glucose tolerance with 5.5% or higher HbA1c, past medical history of steroid hormone administration, requirement of intraoperative blood transfusion, past medical history of narcotic analgesic administration, and complications of Parkinson's disease.
