Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All consecutive blunt chest trauma patients with clinically suspected pneumothorax on arrival at the ED were prospectively included at our trauma center.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Overt pneumothorax, patients require immediate invasive interventions, transferred from another hospital, an age younger than 18 years, refractory shock, cardiac arrest.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The performance of oblique chest radiograph for the detection of occult pneumothorax was compared to CT scans for the gold standard.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Oblique chest radiograph is compared with lung ultrasonography.
