During their psychiatry rotation, residents participate in a 30-minute peer discussion group held once a week. TThe group will consist only of residents, and they will be encouraged to freely discuss

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Early medical residents who began their rotation in the Department of Psychiatry between the date of approval by the head of the institution and March 2028 and began thier reidency at hour hospital within a year. Residents whose rotation period at our hospital is more than one year. Residents who have provided written informed consent to participate in this study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Residents who have previously participated in this study. Residents with a history of psychiatric disorders who are currently undergoing treatment. Residents who have been continuing their early medical residency training at our hospital for more than two years. Residents who are expected to have difficulty continuing the 4-week intervention period, such as those with a planned leave of absence.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome of this study is the change in the mean scores of each subscale of the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). The MBI will be administered at three time points: baseline (prior to the intervention), immediately after the intervention (4 weeks after the start), and at follow-up (8 to 16 weeks after the start). The changes from baseline n the following three subscales will be compared between groups: Emotional Exhaustion (range: 0-54) Depersonalization (range: 0-30) Personal Accomplishment (range: 0-48)

The secondary outcomes of this study are changes in the percentage of residents exhibiting burnout symptoms (burnout rate) based on the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), and changes in scores on the Brief Job Stress Questionnaire (BJSQ), Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D), and Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS). changes in the percentage of burnout rate based on MBI Burnout will be defined according to the following criteria based on MBI subscale scores. Emotional Exhaustion (EE), a score of 27 or higher,Depersonalization (DP), a score of 10 or higher,Personal Accomplishment (PA), a score of 33 or lower changes in scores on the Brief Job Stress Questionnaire (BJSQ), Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D), and Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS). We will evaluate the effects of the intervention by performing analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) between groups (intervention group vs. control group) using the scores of BJSQ, CES-D, and AIS immediately before the psychiatric rotation as covariates and the scores at the end of the rotation as dependent variables.
