Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The following outcomes will be measured before and after the intervention and two weeks after the intervention (follow-up) periods. IBS Severity Index (Shinozaki et al., 2006); Visceral Sensitivity Index (VSI; Saigo et al., 2014); actual heart rate during the heartbeat detection task; heart rate counted by the participants during the heartbeat detection task; confidence in the accuracy of heart rate counting (7-point Likert scale); amount of water consumed during the first and second trials of the water load task; degree of gastrointestinal symptoms before and after the water load (i.e., pain/discomfort, fullness, nausea, and bloating, each rated using a Visual Analogue Scale); Multidimensional Assessment of Interoceptive awareness (MAIA; Shoji et al., 2018)

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The following outcomes will be measured before and after the intervention and two weeks after the intervention (follow-up) periods. Respiratory rate and heart rate variability at the resting state; Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ; Sugiura et al., 2012)
