Interventions

The eyes were randomly assigned to 1 of 4 groups according to the IOL types by a clinical research coordinator. Both eyes of all patients undergo phacoemulsification surgery and implantation of 1 of 4

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Major inclusion criteria are eyes that were scheduled to undergo phacoemulsification surgery with single-piece hydrophobic acrylic IOL implantation in both eyes.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria are: 1) pathology of the cornea, macula, or optic nerve, 2) severe opaque media other than cataract, 3) moderate to severe dry eye, 4) corneal astigmatism more than 1.0D, 5) diabetes mellitus, 6) history of ocular surgery or inflammation, 7) eventful cataract surgery 8) difficulty undergoing examination, and 9) patient refusal.

MeasureTime frame
All patients undergo examinations of binocular or monocular distance-corrected VA from far to near distances, binocular photopic and mesopic contrast VA, and the extent of halo and glare symptoms at 2 months postoperatively.
