Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients were eligible to participate if they were over 60 years of age, receiving maintenance hemodialysis for at least 3months, and able to provide informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients were excluded as following criteria: (1) inability to perform the handgrip strength test or the gait speed test; (2) unable to measure the body composition; (3) did not complete date on the depression and nutrition assessments; (4) patients with hearing impairment, or visual impairment difficulties; (5) presented with an infection, amputated limb, pulmonary edema, or malignancy; (6) unable to communicate with the study staff or provide informed consent.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The aim of this study was to investigate the association between muscle mass, muscle strength as well as physical performance with all-cause mortality in hemodialysis patients.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
This study was to explore the association between physical performance (such as sarcopenia) with depression, cognitive impairment, quality of life in hemodialysis patients.
