Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: As an adolescent competitive dancer, I have undergone over a year of specialized training.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Participants were excluded if they had any orthopedic or other foot injuries and symptoms (such as pain and swelling) in the past year, if they were undergoing treatment for HV or other foot injuries, or if they were using NSAIDs or analgesic drugs.

MeasureTime frame
Questionnaire Survey: Participants will provide their physical information and details about any injuries. Pain and swelling in the foot will be assessed using foot photographs and pain levels will be measured using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). Additionally, the Manchester-Oxford Foot Questionnaire (MOFQ) and the Foot and Ankle Outcome Score (FAOS) will be used to evaluate foot conditions. Measurement of Hallux Valgus Angle: Foot photographs will be taken using a digital camera in a manner similar to taking X-rays. The hallux valgus angle will be measured from these photographs using ImageJ software. Plantar Pressure Measurement: Plantar pressure will be measured using the F-Scan system (Nitta Corporation) during various postures: standing on both feet (5 seconds), standing on one foot (5 seconds), and maximum heel lift (5 seconds). Each action will be performed once for both feet. Muscle Activity Evaluation: Surface electromyography (PLUX Biosignals, Lisbon, Portugal) will be used to measure muscle activity during double-leg standing, single-leg standing, and heel lift movements. The muscles to be evaluated include the abductor hallucis (center of the line connecting the navicular and medial calcaneal tubercle), abductor digiti minimi (1 cm posterior to the distal fifth metatarsal), flexor hallucis longus (posterior to the medial malleolus), tibialis anterior (inversion of the ankle), and peroneus longus (proximal third between the fibular head and lateral malleolus). ROM Evaluation: The range of motion (ROM) of the ankle will be assessed using a digital camera. Intrinsic Muscle Training: Based on previous studies, intrinsic muscle training methods such as towel curls, short foot exercises, and toe games (rock-paper-scissors) will be used. The aim is to determine whether these exercises can contribute to the improvement of hallux valgus.
