Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: patients aged older than 15 years those with PPU in the stomach or duodenum with an ICD-10 code of K25.1, K25.2, K25.5, K25.6, K26.1, K26.2, K26.5, or K26.6 those who underwent laparotomy for generalized peritonitis
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients who had co-diagnosis of other gastrointestinal perforation (e.g., perforated diverticulitis) and duplicate cases were excluded
