Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) About 3000 patients with diabetes: inpatients and outpatients in Ehime university hospital and the affiliated hospitals*, and the residents in Toon city (Ehime, Japan) who are participated in the Toon Genome Study** 2) About 3000 participants without diabetes: the residents in Toon city (Ehime, Japan) who are participated in the Toon Genome Study** * The patients were recruited as a part of the Ehime Study since 1998 ** This study commenced in 2009

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Patients who do not consent to the study 2) Patients who are judged inappropriate for the study by a doctor
