Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Using a Japanese national inpatient database, we identified patients who underwent laparoscopic or open distal pancreatectomy between April 2012 and March 2020.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: We excluded patients who (i) were < 18 years old, (ii) had stage IV pancreatic cancer, and (iii) underwent resection of surrounding organs at the same time as the pancreatectomy.
