Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients with a diagnosis of acute respiratory failure or acute on chronic respiratory failure and fulfilling the criteria for ALI/ARDS

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Pediatric population as defined by study authors

The primary outcome for this study will be the sensitivity and specificity of the PaO2/FiO2 ratio and Oxygenation index for the prediction of mortality in patients with ARDS.
