Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients admitted to the intensive care unit after surgery, while intubated with PU cuff tracheal tubes SealGuard Evac (Covidien,Dublin,Ireland) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) cuff tracheal tubes Lo-Pro (Covidien,Dublin,Ireland) and were extubated on the following day

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: patients who were not extubated on the following day
