Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Apparently healthy males who had undergone health check examinations at the Health Planning Center of Nihon University Hospital

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The exclusion criteria included refusal to provide consent for participation in the study, current treatment of insulin therapy, positive history of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), absence of measurement of the serum lipid, fasting blood glucose, immunoreactive insulin, hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), waist circumference (WC) and absence of a record of the average sleep duration per week.

The primary efficacy parameter was the relationship between sleep duration and cardio-metabolic risk: WC, HbA1c, Homeostatic model assessment insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), and serum non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C) level.
