Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: We consecutively recruited adult patients who were expected to remain in the ICU more than 3 days.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: We excluded patients who fell under one or more of the following categories: exhibiting trauma to or amputation of limbs; diagnosed with primary neuromuscular disease.
