Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients hospitalized for heart failure (diagnosed by using Framingham criteria) who meet both of the following criteria: a left ventricular ejection fraction of 50% or more as measured at the local site by means of echocardiography, and an elevated level of N terminal pro brain natriuretic peptide (NT proBNP) (400 pg per milliliter or more) or brain natriuretic peptide (BNP)(100 pg per milliliter or more)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with severe valvular heart disease including aortic stenosis, aortic regurgitation, mitral stenosis and mitral regurgitation; acute coronary syndrome; severe systemic illness except for cardiac disease with a life expectancy of less than 6 months; or after heart transplantation
