Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: College student 18-50 years of age, capable of bending their knees and jumping, and fit enough to lift weights and engage in balance training.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Muscle pathologies (myasthenia gravis, muscular dystrophy), balance-related pathologies (Meniere's disease, orthostatic hypotension), joint related pathologies, using a cane or walker, surgeries that affect the lower limbs or upper limbs, body mass index over 30, or pregnancy.

Vertical jump reach and initial 0.3 seconds of upward velocity.Vertical reach was measured using a Vertec as participants jumped upwards from a squat jump position. The maximum height of the plastic vains that they displaced was recorded. For the 0.3 sec vertical acceleration silver surface reflective markers were placed on participant's anterior superior iliac spine bilaterally. Infrared cameras were used to measure how quickly the reflective markers accelerated upwards. The centroid of the two reflective markers was mathematically determined and used to calculate vertical velocity.
