Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1) Patients with a history of visiting the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Tokyo Metropolitan Children Medical Center (TMCMC) 2) Patients in whom pervasive development disorder or hyperkinetic disorder was diagnosed by a child psychiatrist at TMCMC using ICD-10 3) Patients with a police record of theft 4) Patients between age 13 and 18 years old when apprehended for theft 5) Patients deemed to have no risk or a reduced risk of further stealing after careful consultation with the attending doctor 6) Patients consenting to participation in this study
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1) Patients with an intelligence quotient of less than, or equal to 70 2) Patients who experienced a mood disorder (depression or manic) at the time of theft 3) Patients who were abusing alcohol or drugs at the time of theft 4) Patients assessed by a doctor as unfit for the study
