remifentanil administration 0.25 microg/kg/hr i.v. intraoperatively dexmedetomidine administration 0.5 microg/kg/hr i.v. intraoperatively control group (received the same volume of saline)

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 18 years of age or older who underwent elective cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: previous heart surgery, infection disease, chronic administration of an anti-inflammatory treatment
