Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - patients with diabetes mellitus - HbA1c (JDS) of 6.1 to 8.0% - under treatment with 1) diet therapy and exercise, 2) sulphonylurea, 3) metformin, or 4) suophnylurea and metformin

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: allergy to sitagliptin or acarbose
