Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients who were scheduled to undergo EGD to screening or follow-up for upper gastrointestinal (UGI) disease were enrolled in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The following exclusion criteria were applied to patients: previous surgery involving the UGI tract, UGI bleeding requiring hemostasis, scheduled endoscopic surgery, high volume gastric residual and a history of hypersensitivity to LM or peppermint oil.
