Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with type 2 diabetes who had their cIMT assessed at the outpatient clinic of Juntendo University Hospital between 2003 and 2005 were recruited in a cohort study. Patients fitting the following criteria were selected for this study: 1) 30-75 years of age, 2) negative history of CVD.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: severe renal dysfunction, severe liver disease, malignancy
