Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients hospitalized for pneumonia with worse performance status (grade 3 or 4; defined by The Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group) are enrolled.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Patients <18 years old, or patients who have impaired consciousness and also have no surrogate decision-maker, are excluded. 2) Patients, who are complicated by progressive underlying lung diseases such as acid fast bacilli and/or fungi infection or malignancy, are excluded.
