Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Poorly glycemic control defined as mean HbA1c levels over the last 2 months of more than 6.5 - 9.0 % and who were not receiving insulin injection therapy despite receiving treatment for > 8 weeks with conventional therapy.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria were infectious disease, thyroid disease, liver impairment, malignant tumors, and treatment by steroids.
