Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients, who needed the distal gastrectomy for gastric cancer with reconstruction except of BI, were eligible for this study. Other eligibility criteria were: age between 20 and 90 years; Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status of 1 or 0; RY reconstruction after resection was necessary; acceptable renal and hepatic function, and normal ECG.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients were excluded if they had active infection, severe heart disease, pregnancy, active synchronous carcinoma, interstitial pneumonia or pulmonary fibrosis, carcinoma in the remnant stomach, Borrmann type 4 (linitis plastica), non-curative factors, such as peritoneal dissemination, hepatic metastasis, and severe invasion to other organs by the pre-operative diagnosis, an anamnesis of laparotomy for upper gastrointestinal diseases. Written informed consent was obtained from all patients.
