Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Meet the diagnostic criteria on insomnia according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders; 2. Aged from 18 to 65 years (male or female); 3. Experiencing at least 3 times per week for more than 1 month; 4. Not take any medicine for improving insomnia, or stop taking the drug for more than 3 weeks; 5. Have psychological symptoms including anxiety (self-assessment anxiety scale, SAS scored >=50) or depression (self-reported depression scale, SDS scored >=50); 6. Agree to participate in the trial and be randomly allocated into any study groups.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. The insomnia was caused by nervous system disease including stroke, Parkinsons disease, etc; 2. Serious organic disease, and other chronic diseases including cardiac disease, liver, or kidney disease, thrombocytopenia with bleeding tendency; 3. Pregnant or being a woman of childbearing age not on a proper method of birth control; 4. Severe episodes of fainting during acupuncture or afraid of blood; 5. Have infection or inflammation at the acupoints; 6. Alcohol and/or other drug abuse or dependence.
