Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1) Assessed by a specialist doctor to be eligible to participate in this study; 2) Diagnosed with stroke according to the "Chinese Clinical Management Guidelines for Cerebrovascular Diseases (2nd Edition, 2023)", and with a diagnosis of unilateral stroke confirmed by computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); 3) Aged between 18-85 years; 4) Disease duration =6 months; 5) Patients with stable vital signs, clear consciousness, the ability to understand and cooperate with research assessments, and an MMSE score =24; 6) Patients capable of standing independently, walking 10 meters independently, or engaging in activities for 1 hour (assistive devices permitted) ; 7) Patients who are willing and able to complete an 8-week, in-person training program (3 times per week, 1 hour per session); 8) Patients with agreement to refrain from concurrent practice of Tai Chi or Qigong exercises throughout the study period; 9) Provision of written informed consent by the participant or his/her family.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1) Patients in the acute phase of stroke with unstable vital signs; 2) Patients with severe cognitive, speech, hearing, or visual impairments caused by previous neurological diseases, making cooperation impossible; 3) Patients with any contraindications to exercise, including unstable angina, hypertensive crisis, orthostatic hypotension, severe aortic stenosis, atrial or ventricular arrhythmias, sinus tachycardia, acute systemic diseases or fever, moderate to severe heart failure, third-degree atrioventricular block, active pericarditis or myocarditis, thrombophlebitis, etc. [American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), 2000]; 4) Patients with severe mental disorders (e.g., severe depression, schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder); 5) Patients with severe illnesses, including dementia, malignant tumors, and other life-threatening diseases; patients with deep vein thrombosis in the lower extremities detected by lower extremity vascular ultrasound; 6) Patients with a history of alcohol or caffeine dependence; 7) Pregnant or breastfeeding women; 8) Patients with severe or recurrent conditions; 9) Patients who have practiced Tai Chi, Qigong, or other traditional Chinese exercises within the past 3 months; 10) Patients who have participated in other clinical trials within the past 90 days, or are currently involved in other clinical trials, or have plans to relocate recently.
