Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Meets the diagnostic criteria for depression according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5); aged 18–65 years; HAMD-17 score =7 and <24; no antidepressant treatment received within 2 weeks prior to enrollment; and voluntarily participates with signed informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals with suicidal ideation (HAMD-17 suicide item score >2); a prior diagnosis of intellectual disability, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, or other psychiatric disorders; a history of organic brain disease or severe physical illness; patients with respiratory diseases; and pregnant patients.
