Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Simultaneously meet the diagnostic criteria for nonspecific low back pain in both traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Western medicine; (2) Age between 18 and 70 years; (3) Visual Analog Scale (VAS) score between 3 and 7; (4) Negative Lasegue sign; (5) No participation in other clinical studies within the past 2 weeks; (6) Signed informed consent, voluntarily participating in this study. Note: The Western diagnostic criteria are based on the 2020 North American Spine Society (NASS) evidence-based medical guidelines for NLBP, combined with relevant interpretations, as follows: (1) Skeletal muscle pain in the area from the 12th rib to the gluteal fold, which may extend above the knee; (2) No obvious trauma observed, and no abnormal findings on imaging examinations. The TCM diagnostic criteria are based on the "Diagnosis and Treatment Standards for TCM Diseases and Syndromes" issued by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2012, specifically for the diagnosis of lumbosacral muscle strain, as follows: (1) History of recurrent low back pain; (2) Self-reported pain and discomfort in one or both sides of the waist, lumbosacral region, which worsens after prolonged sitting, standing, walking, or physical exertion, and improves with rest; (3) Mild restriction of waist movement, with no restriction of leg movement; (4) Palpation may reveal band-like or cord-like nodules in one or both sides of the sacrospinalis muscles, accompanied by pain response.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Spinal deformities (e.g., spondylolisthesis, spondylolysis, scoliosis, etc.); (2) Specific low back pain (e.g., fracture, infection, tumor, etc.); (3) Non-spinal disorders (e.g., vascular, genitourinary system diseases, etc.); (4) History of lumbar surgery; (5) Low back pain accompanied by pain in two or more other regions; (6) Syndrome differentiation indicating other meridian sinew types or contralateral differentiation indicating Foot-Taiyang meridian sinew type; (7) Pregnancy; (8) Local skin infection or ulceration; (9) Severe underlying diseases (e.g., hematologic diseases, lymphatic system diseases, immune dysfunction, infectious diseases, etc.); (10) Those who do not sign the informed consent form.
