Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Aged 18–80 years. 2) Meets Western diagnostic criteria for chronic renal failure, and has undergone maintenance hemodialysis for =3 months (three 4-hour sessions per week). 3) Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale total score =1. 4) TCM syndrome differentiation corresponds to the "spleen-kidney qi deficiency" pattern defined in the Diagnostic, Syndrome Differentiation and Efficacy Evaluation Criteria for Chronic Renal Failure issued by the Nephrology Branch of the China Association of Chinese Medicine. 5) Clear consciousness with normal mental and cognitive function. 6) Both patient and family have given informed consent and voluntarily agree to participate in this study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Patients with a documented history of organic gastrointestinal disease within the past 6 months. 2) Those complicated by active malignancy, severe primary diseases of the hematopoietic system, marked cardiac or pulmonary insufficiency, or hepatic impairment; patients who have experienced an acute gastrointestinal disorder within the last month. 3) Individuals with allergic diathesis or a known hypersensitivity to any component of the study medication or traditional Chinese medicine. 4) Presence of periumbilical eczema or impaired temperature sensation. 5) Recent history of bleeding of any origin. 6) Persons exhibiting the TCM pattern of "yin-deficiency with effulgent fire."
