Interventions

Observation group:At the Shenmen and Taichong acupoints, acupoint application is administered, with the applied medications consisting of cinnabar and chaihu.
Control Group:At the Taiyuan and Taixi acupoints, acupoint application is administered, with the applied medications consisting of cinnabar and chaihu.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Participants must meet the diagnostic criteria for sleep disorders according to the American Psychiatric Association (APA) Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) (2013), as well as the Liver Fire Disturbing the Heart syndrome criteria outlined in the 2015 edition of the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China; be aged between 18 and 70 years; have a Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) score >7 points; not be participating in other clinical studies at the same time; have signed the informed consent form; and voluntarily participate in this study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Sleep disorders caused by interference from the external environment; sleep disorders caused by medications or lifestyle factors such as alcohol, coffee, or strong tea; sleep disorders caused by severe primary diseases (cardiovascular, pulmonary, hepatic systems), severe wasting diseases (malignant tumors, etc.), or systemic diseases (pain, fever, surgery, etc.); sleep disorders caused by pregnancy or lactation; mental health conditions requiring treatment; sleep disorders accompanied by other symptoms, including obstructive sleep apnea or circadian rhythm sleep disorders; use of hypnotic or sedative medications for insomnia in the past 4 weeks; acupuncture treatment in the past 3 months; severe skin infections at acupoint sites; patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
