Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: No contraindications to relevant medications and no history of allergy to alcohol (ethanol); American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status classification I–II; female patients aged =18 years.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Previous history of sore throat and hoarseness; upper respiratory tract infection within the past month; known difficult intubation patients, including mouth opening less than 3.5 cm, Mallampati classification 3-4, and limited head extension; patients who used steroids, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or opioids within 1 week before surgery; history of pharyngeal diseases, such as pharyngitis or pharyngeal tumors; history of oral and pharyngeal surgery, such as vocal cord polyp removal or laryngeal lesion resection; history of gastroesophageal reflux disease; patients who are scheduled to have a nasogastric tube inserted within 24 hours before or after surgery. After randomization, patients who entered the ICU within 24 hours postoperatively were excluded.
