Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) children aged 3-8 years; (2) those assessed by a dental specialist as requiring multiple (=10) primary tooth caries treatments completed in a single session under general anesthesia, including but not limited to restorations, endodontic therapy, preformed crown placement, and extractions; (3) American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status classification of I or II; and (4) first-time elective surgery under general anesthesia.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) cognitive impairment precluding basic communication and behavioral assessment; (2) local auricular conditions including eczema, dermatitis, ulceration, trauma, or deformity rendering auricular acupressure inadvisable; (3) use of sedatives, anxiolytics, or antihistamines (e.g., certain cold medications) within one week prior to surgery for any reason; (4) documented history of sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, somnambulism, or night terrors; (5) known allergy to medical adhesive tape, alcohol, or any materials used in the study; and (6) requirement for emergency anesthesia and treatment.
