Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1) Met the diagnostic criteria for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) in both traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Western medicine; 2) Aged = 18 years; 3) With stable vital signs and clear consciousness, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score = 16 and Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score = 10; 4) Intact skin around the ears and abdomen, without laceration, ulceration, inflammation or sensory impairment; 5) Informed consent was obtained and signed by the patients themselves or their legal guardians; 6) Did not meet the Rome IV Diagnostic Criteria for Functional Constipation before intervention, presented no overt constipation symptoms, and was eligible for universal preventive intervention.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1) Complicated with severe dysfunction of vital organs including the heart, liver, lungs and kidneys; 2) Allergic to the components of the media applied in the intervention (e.g., lubricating oil, vaseline); 3) Suffering from severe cognitive impairment or mental illness, and unable to understand or cooperate with the intervention; 4) Pregnant or lactating women; 5) Constipation had occurred or laxatives had been used prior to the intervention; 6) Presented with contraindications to the intervention, such as gastrointestinal bleeding, intestinal organic diseases, skin infectious diseases, and elevated intracranial pressure(>200mmH2O).
