Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Meet the diagnostic criteria for RVO in Ophthalmology, and fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) confirms RVO with macular edema (RVO-ME); Meet the syndrome differentiation standard for intermingled phlegm and blood stasis in Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Common Diseases in Traditional Chinese Medicine Ophthalmology: Symptoms include blurred vision, dark red hemorrhage in the ocular fundus, blurred optic disc margin and edema, attenuated arteries, dilated and tortuous veins, and macular edema; dizziness, chest distress, frequent cough with excessive phlegm; tongue with ecchymosis/petechiae, white greasy coating, wiry pulse; central macular thickness (CMT) = 280 µm; first onset with disease course = 4 weeks; initial best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) 0.05–0.5; age 40–80 years; stable general condition, well-controlled blood glucose and blood pressure; signed informed consent.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Advanced RVO with best-corrected visual acuity < 0.05; History of anti-VEGF therapy; Recent myocardial infarction, cerebral infarction, or severe opacity of the refractive media that interferes with fundus examination; Comorbid fundus or macular diseases that may cause macular edema; Significant focal capillary non-perfusion in the macular region; Hypersensitivity to any of the study medications.
