Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Meets the diagnostic criteria for paravertebral muscle degeneration and discogenic low back pain, as well as the standards of TCM syndrome differentiation; (2) Age between 18 and 70 years old (inclusive of 18 and 70 years); (3) Visual Analog Scale (VAS) pain score >4 and <8; (4) Has undergone a lumbar spine MRI examination and can provide complete and clear imaging, showing changes consistent with the imaging criteria in the diagnostic standards; (5) Has not received any therapies that may affect the results of this study within the past 2 weeks; (6) Voluntarily participates in this study, understands the content of the research, and is willing to cooperate with the treatment and follow-up.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Tumors, infections, metabolic diseases, rheumatic and immunological diseases, and low back pain caused by fractures; (2) Presence of spinal deformities (such as spondylolisthesis, pars interarticularis defect, or scoliosis); (3) History of lumbar spine surgery; (4) Neurological diseases (e.g., amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Guillain-Barré syndrome, or myasthenia gravis); (5) Severe primary diseases involving the cardiovascular, hepatic, renal, hematopoietic, digestive, or endocrine systems; (6) Patients with tuberculosis or malignant tumors; (7) Patients with chronic diseases such as hypertension or diabetes mellitus with poorly controlled conditions; (8) History of opioid analgesics, sedative-hypnotics, or psychiatric disorders; (9) Pregnant or breastfeeding women.
